NAFF came of age: Ceremonial opening of the 18th edition in Neum
2023 Neum Animated Film Festival

The 18th edition of the International Animated Film NAFF 2023 was officially opened on the terrace of the Sunce Hotel on Saturday, August 26.
The festival program began with the performance of the Mostar Rock School, after which it continued with speeches from friends and partners of the Festival, who have been supporting NAFF for years.
The representative of the US Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Laura Haugen, said that they were pleased to have supported NAFF again this year, in a small but significant way.
"For more than a decade, we have been providing small grants to enable artists from the US to attend the Festival, present their films, participate as jury members and hold workshops. During the previous years, many animated films from the USA have been screened at NAFF, and we are pleased to witness that a number of American films will be represented in this year's diverse list of international titles,'' Haugen said, among other things, in her speech.
All those present on the terrace of the Sunce hotel were especially delighted by the performance of the members of the Inex circus theater who treated us to an impressive performance with fire, which all the visitors had a chance to enjoy.
The 18th edition of the Festival was officially declared open by Rajna Rajič, in front of the KAN Youth Association, who is also one of the members of NAFF organization.
"This year is especially important for us, because we are celebrating coming of age. The 18th year of pure love is behind us, because animation is the love that is woven into every thread of NAFF. Otherwise, we wouldn't even survive. Thank you for creating new memories with us,'' said Rajič.
After the official opening, the first competition program was shown, during which visitors could enjoy films from Romania, Ukraine, Germany, Netherlands, USA and UK.
After the screenings of the first night, the guests and friends of the Festival enjoyed a party by the Sunce hotel pool.
During NAFF 2023, a total of 81 films from 31 countries will be screened. 33 films will be shown in the competition program, 25 films in the student program, while during the panorama program visitors will be able to enjoy 23 films.
As part of the festival program, expert lectures and masterclasses will be held, and the Festival will be officially closed on August 30 with the awarding ceremony.
